Each Summer, Camp Ozark hires up to 8 college-aged young people to serve as Wranglers. Camp Ozark Wranglers have the unique opportunity to use their horsemanship skills and work ethic to serve the overall mission of Camp Ozark.

The overall responsibility of a Wrangler is to help facilitate the safe, efficient and effective operation of the Camp Ozark Barn. The Camp Ozark Barn is home to approximately 25 horses, which are used for both Horsemanship classes and Trail Rides.Wrangler duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Care and feeding of Camp Ozark’s horses
  • Care and maintenance of Barn tack, equipment and supplies
  • Teaching of various Horsemanship classes
  • Supervising Trail Rides through the Ouachita National Forest
  • Teaching and supervising campers as they ride horses during Mish Mash and Special Events

All Wranglers can expect to learn valuable lessons in Horsemanship instruction, Equine care, teamwork, and Barn operations. All Wranglers work under the direction of full-time Camp Ozark staff, and play a crucial role in the experience, ministry and outreach of Camp Ozark. All necessary training will be provided, although previous experience working with horses is preferred.
